Gesho

Part of the Canadian series, "Children of Jerusalem," GESHO transports us into the life of Gesho Mamu, a 13-year-old Ethiopian boy who lives with his nine brothers and sisters in a temporary trailer park. His speaks of the intense difficulties faced by the Jews who left Ethiopia in 1991 as part of a massive Israeli airlift. The images of Gesho's new life at school, on the soccer field and amongst the sunflowers, corn and watermelons he has planted provide a sweet and hopeful counterpoint to Gesho's narrative.
