Himmo: King of Jerusalem

It is 1948, during the siege of Jerusalem. As the war rages around them, Israelis create a makeshift hospital in an old monastery. Hamutal, a beautiful young nurse, becomes emotionally attached to Himmo, a fatally wounded young man. Her love for him transforms her into something like an angel, but it also makes the other soldiers jealous. As the war intensifies, they all begin to act out their fantasies in the monastery's dark, eerie corridors. A richly symbolic and somewhat surrealistic film directed by Amos Guttman, and based on the best-selling book by Yoram Kaniuk.
