Volunteer

Our thriving volunteer community is an essential part of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival’s success. As a volunteer, you will meet wonderful people and support a 44-year-long tradition in the SF arts scene! Festival volunteers come from many walks of life, from students to retirees, all sharing a common passion for film in the Bay Area.

We prioritize a positive and friendly environment for volunteers and are proud to have community support in producing exciting events that celebrate the Jewish experience through film and media. Giving your time as a volunteer is truly a one-of-a-kind experience and we would love your help!

If you would like to join the SFJFF team, please fill out our online Volunteer Application.

Volunteer applicants will be contacted in July for the 44th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, July 18 – August 4, 2024.

Why volunteer? It feels good to donate time to organizations that you like.

In appreciation for your being an integral part of our film festival, giving to your community, and supporting the JFI staff and patrons, there are some additional perks for our volunteers:

Volunteer Code of Conduct

The SFJFF Code of Conduct aims to ensure that all volunteers understand the standard of conduct required. Volunteers are expected to uphold the Code of Conduct at all times when carrying out their duties and interactions. While volunteering, you represent the Jewish Film Institute to all patrons, guests, and the public. Therefore, it is always important to portray a positive image. We rely on you to follow through with your commitment as you become a valued member of our team.

All volunteers are expected to uphold and abide by these values:

  • Treat all patrons, artists, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect and courtesy.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner at all times.
  • Do not consume alcohol or drugs while on shift and do not report to a shift while under the influence of any kind.
  • Show up on time and dress appropriately.
  • Contact the operations department with any questions or concerns or if you need to cancel a shift.
  • Keep all information confidential and be sensitive to patrons and guests.
  • Stay through your entire shift.
  • Refrain from any physical contact with patrons, staff, and other guests.

Reported negative behaviors will be looked into and dealt with accordingly. Depending on the severity and frequency of said behaviors, it may result in the termination from our volunteer program and any future involvement with our organization.

By following these values, you can expect from all of us at SFJFF that you will be heard, respected, appreciated, and trusted. We will do our best to provide a safe and secure space in which to volunteer.

Thank You for considering donating your time, skills, and enthusiasm!
