"She is living fire, such as I had never seen." - Franz Kafka Franz Kafka's great love, Milena Jesenska, to whom he wrote his most passionate letters, was a beautiful, politically committed, enormously talented journalist. Though a non-Jew, she took an early stand against Hitler, and ultimately was killed in a Nazi concentration camp because of her efforts to save Jews. French Director Vera Belmont (whose film RED KISS enjoyed commercial and critical success here in 1987) creates a powerful drama recounting Milena's life in Prague and Vienna, her devotion to radical humanist causes, and her turbulent love life. French screen star Valerie Kaprisky combines integrity and sensuality as Milena - she transforms herself from a spirited schoolgirl to a fearless reporter, from a morphine addict to a courageous resistance worker. The great cast includes Stacy Keach as Milena's domineering father, Peter Gallagher (SEX, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE) as Milena's first husband, the outspoken Jewish music critic Ernst Polak, and Philip Anglim as Franz Kafka.
