Tale of the Three Jewels
About This Film
The Talent Given Us
Family road trips should be illegal. But then you would miss out on one of the wackiest, fun-house-mirrored, rollicking rides of your life with this family, their meshugas flapping from their mini-van like so many damp bathing suits. Sundance hit The Talent Given Us is Wagner’s narrative feature film about a New York Jewish family, which happens to star his New York Jewish family.

About This Film
Te Extraño (I Miss You)
Fabian Hofman’s semi-autobiographical account of a Jewish family caught up in Argentina’s Dirty War of the 1970s centers on teenager Javier, who watches his middle-class existence come apart as leftist brother Adrian tries to stand up against the military takeover. After Adrian becomes one of the thousands of political dissidents “disappeared” by the regime, his family sends Javier to stay with relatives in Mexico, in a memorable film with a hushed, cumulative force. Preceded by the New Jewish Filmmaking Project’s Escape from Suburbia.

About This Film

A young woman and her ex-lover embark on a road trip to euthanize her beloved dog. Along the way, they confront buried emotions, irreversible choices, and realizations that ultimately set them both free.
Tehilim
A father’s mysterious disappearance throws his family into a spiritual crisis in this engrossing, beautifully acted drama set in modern Jerusalem. Uncertain if Eli is dead or alive, his family copes with their confusion in ways that test their faith and love. Wife Alma, a secular Jew, chafes when her observant in-laws insist on ritual prayers (tehilim), while her young sons embark on a religious scheme that precipitates a moral crisis.
Tel Aviv By Girls
Tiffany and Eliette are free-spirited Parisians who meet in Tel Aviv for a week of soul-searching and spiritual awakening. As they avoid responsibility and reality, each begins to confront an identity crisis. The result is a mesmerizing docu-fiction hybrid that deftly conveys the spontaneity of life. At times whimsical, at times profound, this compelling film explores the complexity of modern womanhood and the fragility of human relationships.
Tel Aviv On Fire | CENTERPIECE NARRATIVE
Salam, an inexperienced young Palestinian man, becomes a writer on a popular soap opera after a chance meeting with an Israeli soldier. His creative career is on the rise - until the soldier and the show's financial backers disagree about how the show should end, and Salam is caught in the middle.
Tell Me a Riddle
This seldom seen gem was not only the debut directorial feature of this year’s Freedom of Expression Award honoree Lee Grant but also showcased at the first SFJFF in 1981. Oscar winning screen legends Melvyn Douglas (Being There) and Lila Kedrova (Zorba the Greek) are an elderly Jewish émigré couple who try to rekindle their troubled marriage by taking a road trip, ending up in glorious late-1970s San Francisco.
Opening Night: Tell Me Everything
In the 1980s, as pop music soars and AIDS spreads, 12-year-old Boaz discovers a shattering truth about his beloved father. Over the years, he struggles to mend their fractured relationship and restore their lost connection. Moshe Rosenthal ("Karaoke," SFJFF42 Opening Night) crafts a delicate, deeply human coming-of-age story.

About This Film
The Tenth Man
Ariel lives in New York, far from the lively Jewish district in Buenos Aires where he grew up. But when his father summons him back home for help, Ariel reluctantly returns. The Tenth Man is a kindhearted comedy with a gentle romantic touch. Director Daniel Burman (All In, SFJFF 2012) joyfully upends the old adage that you can never go home again and instead says, maybe under the right circumstances, you can. —Jay Rosenblatt

About This Film
Terrorists In Retirement
In 1943-33, the German Army stationed in Paris was constantly besieged by a group of local terrorists. These 'terrorists' were, in fact, resistance fighters with a particular motivation for their actions. They were not French, but Polish, Rumanian, and Armenian Jews. Their mother tongue was Yiddish, and they were reacting to the plight of their kinsmen in Germany. As furriers, tailors, and leather workers by trade, these men did not know how to use guns. They learned, and eventually were responsible for bombing German patrol guards, shooting the enemy's officers and high-ranked officials, and derailing trains that led to and from the destruction in Germany. Many were arrested. Several were executed. This documentary tells the story of the few who survived and returned to their clothing workshops, seemingly forgotten. The very existence of the film " Terrorist in Retirement" proves that their noble fight did not go unnoticed.
