About This Film
To Be or Not To Be
Ernst Lubitsch’s scandalous, irreverent farce (1942) in which a Polish theatre troupe, headed by Jack Benny and Carole Lombard, gets embroiled in an espionage caper and tries to foil the Führer himself. Held to be in poor taste at its wartime premiere, today it is a standout example of how ridicule can sometimes be deadly serious.
To Dust
CENTERPIECE NARRATIVE: A black comedy about a Hasidic cantor (Géza Röhrig) and biology professor (Matthew Broderick) obsessed with death.
To See If I'm Smiling
To See If I’m Smiling tells the powerful stories of six Israeli women soldiers who did their army service in combat units in the occupied territories.
To See Paris and Die
About This Film
Tobacconist, The
Seventeen-year-old Franz journeys to Vienna to apprentice at a tobacco shop. There he meets Sigmund Freud (Bruno Ganz), a regular customer, and over time the two very different men form a singular friendship. When Franz falls desperately in love with the music-hall dancer Anezka, he seeks advice from the renowned psychoanalyst, who admits that the female sex is as big a mystery to him as it is to Franz. As political and social conditions in Austria dramatically worsen with the Nazis' arrival in Vienna, Franz, Freud, and Anezka are swept into the maelstrom of events. Each has a big decision to make: to stay or to flee?
Toby Freilich: Maintenance Artist
What happens when high art meet trash? Watch this first feature documentary about Mierle Laderman Ukeles, globally-renowned artist-in-residence at NYC’s Sanitation Department. Religiously observant, Ukeles’ humanistic approach to Jewish tradition inspires her largely secular work.

About This Film
Tomorrow We Move (Demain On Déménage)
Imagine living with your mother. Veteran director Chantal Akerman’s deliciously playful and thought-provoking Tomorrow We Move is the story of Charlotte (Sylvie Testud), a young, chain-smoking, erotic story writer, and her mother Catherine (Aurore Clément), a music teacher who moves in with her grand piano in tow. The irrepressible Akerman has created a quirky film that is audacious, musical, and filled with giddy slices of Parisian life; her characters’ motivations are not always clear, but are always delightfully human.
Tongue Behind Teeth
A fifteen-year-old Bukharan immigrant in Israel pursues her ambitions through a relationship with a twenty-one-year-old Russian newcomer, forcing her to confront the true cost of social climbing.

Torn
Romuald Jakub Weksler-Waszkinel’s mother left him as a baby on the doorstep of a Polish gentile family in 1943. Ronit Kertsner’s heartfelt and insightful documentary captures the lifelong Catholic priest’s poignant search for identity in Israel at age 67, raising questions about who is a Jew and what being Jewish means. Preceded by The Passion According to the Polish Community of Pruchnik, a vérité documentary about the strange Easter customs of a small Polish town.

About This Film
A Touch Away
If you thought smartly written, superbly acted television dramas only happen on HBO, think again: A Touch Away takes a slice of contemporary Tel Aviv life and spins out a marvelous multi-family drama. The series revolves around the forbidden love between a young Russian immigrant man and his neighbor, an Orthodox Jewish girl. Eight episodes screen over two days at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco.
Touchdown Israel
Israel is the last place you would expect the corn-fed tradition of American football to catch on. But don’t tell that to the passionate players and coaches in the 11-team Israel Football League, who play for nothing but pride. Touchdown Israel is a surprising look at how the gridiron sport has found an unlikely toehold in the Holy Land, examining Jewish-Arab camaraderie (and occasional tensions) among the league’s multiethnic rosters.
