Painting the Town

A warm and witty film about art and artists, politics and culture. Through the impish Polish refugee YosI Bergner, we meet a community of Australian artists whose work challenged their country's establishment and reflected the great upheavals of the 1930s and 1940s. Great archival footage, music, and, of course, the paintings themselves. Bergner's moving works depict the suffering of the Aborigines as similar to those of the Jews.
