Ruthie and Connie are Jewish grandmothers who are lesbians and national heroines. They spend much of their lives “doing the right thing” – until they discover it isn’t right for them. By taking risks and challenging values they add a powerful chapter to the dialogue on the meaning of family in America today. Set against the backdrop of working-class Jewish Brooklyn and framed by the emergence of feminism and gay liberation, this powerful film reveals that revolutions are often made up of small, daily decisions.
