Sam Spiegel Film School--A Tribute in Shorts [program]

SFJFF is thrilled to host a 15th anniversary retrospective of short films from the Sam Spiegel Film & Television School in Jerusalem. The most prestigious film school in Israel, Sam Spiegel boasts Israel’s top filmmakers among its graduates, including feature filmmakers Nir Bergman (BROKEN WINGS), Ra’anan Alexandrowicz (JAMES’ JOURNEY TO JERUSALEM) and Omri Levy (MISS ENTEBBE). The school was founded in 1989 as a joint venture of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Jerusalem Foundation, with the goal of providing world class-training in directing, scriptwriting, producing, cinematography and editing. The school has been the focus of retrospectives at the Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Renen Schorr, Founder and Director of the school, will present this slice-of-life showcase of Israeli films—some political, some humorous, but all exceptionally well-crafted shorts from filmmakers to watch.
