Steve Gomer's romantic comedy is set in the twilight season of the small, family run Lorraine Hotel in the Borscht Belt. Twenty-year-old Molly (Trini Alvarado) arrives from her broken home in Arizona to her grandmother Lillian's (Maureen Stapleton) hotel in time for the summer onslaught of guests. Molly senses the Lorraine's decline and innocently offers to take over. This is as much an attempt to feel connected with the family as it is a dream of saving the hotel, considered prime property for real estate developers. (The Lorraine is really the Heiden Hotel where Gomer spent his summers; it was torn down immediately after the principal shooting of the film.)
