Set in Berlin and the Lower East Side, THE GREAT YIDDISH LOVE is a brilliant pastiche of archival film and sound. This subversive tale of seduction and love stars Marlene Dietrich and her Nazi-endorsed replacement Zarah Leander, with voiceovers by Yiddish vaudeville star Molly Picon.

Diane Nerwen is a video artist and media arts educator living in New York City. Her videos have been screened internationally, including the Guggenheim Museum, NY; The New York Video Festival, Lincoln Center, NY; ARS Electronica, Linz, Austria and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Her tapes have won awards at a number of festivals, such as the Black Maria Film and Video Festival, NJ, and the Images Festival of Independent Film and Video in Toronto, Canada. She has received grants from Creative Capital Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts and New York Foundation for the Arts and has been awarded a DAAD artist-in-residency in Berlin for 2001. Her work is distributed by Video Data Bank, Chicago, Women Make Movies, NY, and VTape, Toronto.
