Almonds and Raisins

Between 1927 and 1940 some twelve million people spoke Yiddish, New York's Yiddish Theatre flourished, and more than three hundred Yiddish movies were made. ALMONDS AND RAISINS is an historical chronicle of these times, featuring interviews, cliips fron nine Yiddish feature films, and other memorabilia pertaining to Yiddish cinema. Karel's film recalls the humor and pathos in the lives of Jewish immigrants who settled in New York.
