Full Description
Two women - childhood friends from Lebanon - meet accidentally in a Paris cafe. Eva, a Jew, and Samia, a Moslem, try to reconstruct their friendship from ten years ago only to find that history and politics constantly interfere with their relationship. Through their tenderness and bitterness, the problems of the Middle East are depicted in honest, heart-rendering fashion. 1981 Cannes Film Festival.
Filmmaker Bio(s)
Edna Politi, a Lebanese Jew, moved to Israel in 1967. There she studied Art and Islam, worked in film, and developed an interested in the Eastern European Jewish pioneers who forged a new society in their ancient homeland. She later studied film in Germany and is now residing in France.
