Madame Jacques sur la Croisette

At an annual spring retreat in Cannes, a group of elderly French Jews reflect on aging, loving in late life and their underlying bond of Yiddish culture. Breaking away from the group and its monotonous rhythm, widower Maurice pursues Madame Jacques. Despite her civilized past and the gossip of their friends, Maurice and Madame Jacques come together. This is the first film from Emmanuel Finkiel, director of VOYAGES. MADAME JACQUES won the Cesar, France’s Academy Award, for best short narrative. Between 1979 and 1996, director Emmanuel Finkiel was assistant director to renowned filmmakers Krysztof Kieslowski (thee Colors Trilogy: Blue, White, Red), Christian de Chalogne, Bertrand Tavernier (L'Appât), Jean Luc Godard (Nouvelle Vague) and others.
