Swallows Never Die in Jerusalem

Tunisian director Ridha Behi has fashioned an ambitious and convincing drama about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Upon hearing rumors of a possible peace accord between the Palestinian Liberation Organization and Israel, Richard, a French journalist, arrives in Israel in pursuit of a hot political story. His trip is also an excuse to visit Esther, his psychologist girlfriend. When Richard's Palestinian guide Hammoudi suddenly learns that his long-lost grandmother may still be alive, Richard embarks on a full-blown investigation. SWALLOWS NEVER DIE IN JERUSALEM is the first film about the Israeli-Palestinian peace accords by an Arab filmmaker, and is a daring testimony that extremist violence is the ultimate enemy of peace.
