Filmmaker Bio(s)
Carrie Blank was born in Manhattan, grew up in Queens, and considers herself a regional filmmaker. Like her lead character, Carrie is a compulsive reader with a passion for stories. TROUBLE was made as her thesis film for New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, from which she has just graduated with an M.F.A. in Directing. Her last short, THE SKY'S TOO SMALL IN JERSEY, won a number of awards and screened at domestic and international festivals.
Carrie wants to write and direct independent narrative features and is currently working on a screenplay, crewing on films and attempting to pay back her student loans.
The Shooting Gallery, founded in 1990 by Larry Meistrich and Bob Gosse, is an innovative New York-based film cooperative that produced features LAWS OF GRAVITY, NEW JERSEY DRIVE, COMFORTABLY NUMB and DRUNKS, as well as other leading independent films. The Shooting Gallery chose Carrie Blank as one of two student directors to receive production assistance in 1994 and the director reports that producer Brandon Rosser is her hero, as he kept the production on time, under budget (thank you, thank you), well fed and in great spirits. And he did it without raising his voice or losing his sense of humor. She hopes to work with Brandon and The Shooting Gallery for thirty, forty years or so.
