A grandson creates a loving portrait of his elderly grandparents, Tsipa and Volf Gamberg. Over a period of six years, San Francisco filmmaker Daniel Gamberg lets them tell their own story of love, loss and love again.
Filmmaker Bio(s)
Mr. Gamburg is completing his MFA in Cinema at San Francisco State
University.
In 1993 he received his Bachelor of Arts in Cinema degree from San Francisco
State University and completed his pre-baccalaureate coursework in
Documentary Photography at UC Berkeley, California.
From 1993-1997 Mr. Gamburg taught Film History, Film Criticism, Documentary,
and Production at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
In 1998 Mr. Gamburg produced and edited "Basil", a short 35mm film starring
Edward Asner. In 1999 he received The Robin Eickman Memorial Scholarship and
a Mentorship Program with filmmaker Rob Nilsson for his current documentary
"Tsipa and Volf". Mr. Gamburg also worked as a sound mixer on Catholic
School, which was awarded Certificate of Merit at the Sundance Film
Festival.
In 1999 Mr. Gamburg graduated from the Bennett Theater Lab, a three-year
acting program.
Currently Mr. Gamburg is the co-founder and artistic director of Bare
Witness Productions (www.barewitness.com). Combining his background in
documentary and narrative film making, Mr. Gamburg has focused on structured
improvisational techniques with an ensemble of actors to develop and produce
independent films dealing with current social issues.
