A Peaceful Sabbath

A sensitive, young Iranian Jew challenges his patriarchal father at a Sabbath dinner, as well as his buddies who carouse in a seedy L.A. strip joint. A PEACEFUL SABBATH is an extraordinary statement about the destructive consequences of sexism from a Persian, male point of view.
Peaceful Sabbath is still touring festivals, mostly in Europe where it seems to have found a home at the "exile film fest" in Sweden. I still get good response from that film which I finished back in '93 and when it premiered at the 13th annual Jewish film fest. that's still one of the more proud moments for me. I've just finished my first feature film (finally) called, America So Beautiful, about Iranians in Los Angeles during the 1979 hostage crisis. It's not a documentary but a drama with historical backdrop. The film will be a world premier in the 7th annual Los Angeles film festival, April 20-28.
