Anna and Vladimir are eight years old, the children of two Russian Jewish immigrant families in San Francisco. Their parents left behind a dismal future but now face the daily struggle of achieving the American dream. For Anna and Vladimir, hope, hard work and tradition intersect as they compete together as ballroom dancers. Watch out Fred and Ginger!
Director, producer and editor David Mehlman is an award-winning filmmaker whose last film, Down For Life screened at last year's New York Expo of Short Film and Video (Finalist Award), Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, Northwest Documentary Film Festival, Trimmers Rock Film Festival, North Carolina School of the Arts, IMAGEfest, and Humboldt International Film Festival (Judge's Choice Award). David worked for several years in theater and film production in Chicago, and recently earned a Master's degree in Documentary Film and Video Production at Stanford University. He now works as an independent producer in New York City. He was the Associate Producer on Master Thief: Art of the Heist, a documentary that aired on ABC on March 7, 1998.
