From Louisiana's beginnings as a French colony, Louisiana Jews have developed a unique culture steeped in Cajun and Creole influences. Jews from New Orleans to Lake Charles and Shreveport lead us through Mardi Gras, small town southern life and the innovations of keeping a kosher diet in a Cajun culture.

Brian Cohen is a documentary filmmaker living in New York. Originally from Texas, he got his start as a filmmaker by documenting life in the small towns he knew and grew up in.
His company, Apple West Productions, is currently producing a five-part documentary series on the Jewish history of the South. The first installment, At Home on the Range: Jewish Life in Texas, premiered on PBS in 1996. Future programs exploring Alabama, Georgia and the Carolinas will continue through the year 2000. He is also producing a one-hour documentary, entitled Red Light Days, on the history of legalized prostitution in America.
