Wanderings: A Journey to Connect

A mother/daughter road trip to the Caribbean Islands, the Netherlands, Spain, India and Korea, searching for the remaining traces of Jewish life in the Diaspora. Adventurous Vancouver filmmaker, Nikila Cole, takes her 12-year-old daughter, Sarah, on a trip around the world to connect with their Judaism and bond one last time before the adolescent battles begin. This utterly charming film is a coming of age tale where promises of sun and sparkling beaches result in a “travelling Bat Mitzvah.” (Hint: mothers bring your daughters to this one!)
Filmmaker Nikila Cole comes out of a rich tradition of television production including INTIMACIES, an award-winning feature documentary on Michael Kearns, Hollywood's first openly HIV+ actor (broadcast Bravo! Canada), PAUL'S PIECE OF SKY, a look at the realities of directing a young, multicultural dance company in rural Connecticut (broadcast: PBS Connecticut and Texas), and recently, OUT OF NOWHERE, a dance/film (Bravo! FACT). Currently she is the series producer of YOU, ME & THE KIDS, a parenting series for the Women's Television Network produced by Force Four Entertainment. She was a feature segment producer for two seasons with the CBC's SPILLED MILK. She recently produced 19 documentary films with the Lunny Communications Group for the King Abdulaziz Historical Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as many of the films for the New Space Center in Vancouver. She has produced several corporate video productions including Zlotnik, Lamb & Co. and the Detroit Receiving Hospital. Previous to her life as a film producer and dancer, she enjoyed a long and critically acclaimed career as a producer/dancer/choreographer in Europe, Canada, and New York.
