Full Description
A charming, moving World War II film about how Jacob the liar spreads a rumor through the Warsaw ghetto to the effect that Russian forces will soon liberate Warsaw. His lies give everyone hope, which gets dashed when the ghetto inhabitants are carted away. This film is not about the destruction of the Jews, or about the Warsaw ghetto; it is about the power of human hope everywhere. Best Foreign Film nominee, 1975 Academy Awards.
