Peaches of March

PEACHES OF MARCH is a sexy movie about teen alienation and political turmoil in 1968 Poland. In a backwater town, a group of high school students throw illicit parties, listen to Western music, and rebel against authority. Two boys - Tomek, the school photographer, and Marcys, his Jewish best friend and the pride of the school - are in love with the beautiful, moody daughter of the abusive local police commissioner. The boys and the whole sleepy town are jolted out of their normal lives in the aftermath of Israel's Six Day War when Polish reactionaries begin to rail against "Zionists." Jews are being blamed for society's ills as a cover for an internal Party purge. The local newspaper accuses Marcys of hosting "Zionist orgies," and as the anti-Jewish campaign gains momentum, Marcys' family must leave the country.
