The King's Daughter

Centered on the momentous wedding of the granddaughter of the Rabbi of Vizhnitz in Jerusalem, this rare inside view of the world of four Hasidic women explores the public andprivate rituals around which their lives are built. On this, the biggest day of her life, the bride receives kvitlech (small notes) while sitting nervously upon a throne-like chair. Others featured in this enlightening documentary include Leah, a mother who feels judgment from her community for not being able to have more than one child; Chaya, a young woman who divorced her husband with the support of her family; and a boy who, when asked if he would go to a soccer game if he were allowed, replies with Talmudic wisdom, "If I’ve never been, how could I know if I’d be interested?"
