Full Description
In this fascinating personal documentary, filmmaker Amrita David traces her family’s immigration story from India to Israel, back to India and finally to Paris, where she has lived most of her life. Her people, the B'nei Israel, the most ancient of India’s three Jewish communities, are believed to have come to India from the Galilee in the 2nd Century BCE. While in appearance they resemble the non-Jewish Maratha people, in many of their traditions they resemble Jews all over the world.
Amrita explores the unique and diverse B'nei Israel heritages of family members who stayed in India, those who chose to remain in Israel, and young people, like herself, who embraced European culture, while struggling to remain Maratha Jews.
