Join Value Culture, the Jewish Film Insitute, and the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco for a special “Soul Vey” Havdalah experience and celebration after the World Premiere of Rabbi on the Block. Havdalah, Shabbat's closing ritual, is a multi-sensory ceremony that transitions us into a new week. Hosted by Value Culture's Adam Swig and the San Francisco Standard's Meaghan Mitchell, the program begins immediately following the screening with a special second-line musical collaboration by the Fillmore Jazz Ambassadors with David Hardiman, Asaf Ophir, and friends who will lead attendees in song from the Vogue Theater to the JCCSF. Join us for a nosh, drinks, and music as we kick off the week with a joyful celebration of Black and Jewish culture!

The Fillmore Jazz Ambassadors' (FJA) mission is to create a thriving bay area jazz environment that sustains, develops, and honors jazz practitioners. FJA educates the community through discussion, programs, and music grounded in the famous “Harlem of the West,” jazz era and dedicated to the revitalization of San Francisco’s, Fillmore Jazz District.
The son of an Israeli film composer, Asaf Ophir was exposed to many styles of music from an early age. Ophir began his professional career in Israeli musicals while studying at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and later at the Jerusalem Academy. Ophir has performed on such distinguished stages as Habima, HaCameri, and Jerusalem Theaters in Israel, as well as the Paramount Theater, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Great American Concert Hall, Freight and Salvage, Brava Theater, and others. He has shared the stage with artists such as Miri Mesika, Avi Kushnir, Galit Giat, David De’or, Rana Farhan, and Barbara Streisand.
Additional collaborators include San Francisco Black & Jewish Coalition, 13th Tribe, Congregation Emanu-El, JCRC Bay Area, and Kosha Dillz.
