Who’s a Stereotype Now? Evolving Images of Jewish Women in Popular Media


Since its early years, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival has deployed film to dispel stereotypes and help Jewish audiences see themselves more accurately reflected on screen. Scholars, critics, and creators come together to explore the evolution of Jewish women on screen--from Gentleman’s Agreement, to Funny Girl and The Nanny, to Friends, Transparent, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Broad City, Sarah Silverman and beyond--asking what these representations say about Jewish women in America.
