A Day in the Warsaw Ghetto: A Birthday Trip in Hell

The most vivid picture of the Warsaw Ghetto we have seen. In 1941 a Wehrmacht sergeant celebrated his 43rd birthday by illegally photographing inside the Warsaw Ghetto. The photos were hidden for over 40 years until, close to death, the sergeant gave 141 negatives to filmmaker Jack Kuper. The images are combined with readings from Ghetto diaries to produce a haunting record of both the misery and the indomitable spirit that continued to exist despite incomprehensible evil.
