Intersex Exposition: Full Monty

A Jewish Australian who performs at a lesbian strip club in Sydney comes out as intersex during her performance in INTERSEX EXPOSITION: FULL MONTY.

I am a thirty-two year old disability pensioner. This is my first completed film besides school projects. I have been attending Lesbian and Gay film festivals for some years, and feel that that community is a dynamic and active film network, and it was with the queer film-making/viewing community in mind that I made my directorial debut with INTERSEX EXPOSITION: Full Monty. As is discussed in the film, I was raised female, but only through the veil of secrecy and unexplained operations was this lie perpetrated. The truth that I discovered only 3 ½ years ago is that I was born intersex i.e. someone who physiologically is not clearly male or female. Doing that strip performance, that coming out piece, and making this film about is part of a journey I am making towards both exploring my sense of self and self-acceptance, and working towards awareness, understanding and acceptance of all intersex people and intersex experience. -Shorona se Mbessakwini
