Lisa Edelstein will receive JFI's 2023 Freedom of Expression Award at the screening of Swipe NYC. Director Sue Zarco Kramer and actors Lisa Edelstein, David Kelsey and Omari K. Chancellor are expected to attend.

In her latest short film, Lisa Edelstein portrays the hysterical sexual (mis)adventures of post-divorce dating. Set in Brooklyn, Edelstein plays Syd, an unlucky real estate agent and empty nester looking for love. Syd’s hilarious and surprising escapades, including a date with Richard Schiff (The Good Doctor), are not to be missed.

Sue Zarco Kramer is a multi-hyphen writer, director and producer---a proud, Jewish, Latina, filmmaker with Guatemalan roots. Sue is graduate of UCLA Film School, where she won the coveted Jim Morrison Award for Best Direction and Writing. Kramer wears the title of Creative Disruptor proudly, with her distinctive, witty voice and her original lens. In 2023 Sue wrote, directed and produced the award winning short Swipe NYC, starring Lisa Eldelstein, Richard Schiff and Bridget Moynahan. Kramer also co-wrote the title theme song, titled “Lost. Ms. Kramer made her directorial debut with her original feature, Gray Matters, now is streaming on Amazon Prime. Executive Produced by Alexander Payne, the film pays homage to 1940’s screwball comedies with a modern twist. “The movie opens with a rhapsodic and perfectly executed ballroom dance sequence, which harks back to the high spirits of Astaire & Rogers.”— says the Hollywood Reporter. It stars Heather Graham, Tom Cavanagh, Alan Cumming, Sissy Spacek, Bridget Moynahan, & Molly Shannon. A film festival darling, Gray Matters has remained on the top 25 lists of “gay and lesbians hits” of all time. Sue has written for almost every Hollywood studio and continues her philanthropic work by producing content for social Justice.
